Mother’s Day ~ The Cards. The Hat.

Posted on

Following are the two Mother’s Day cards I created for my mom and my mom-in-law.

I had a thing for flowers this year! On the first I sponged a small paper doily with moss green ink  to use as the background for the flowers. On the second card, I embossed the background with the Cottage Floral embossing folder from Craft Concepts then colored it with chalk.

And finally, here is the hat I wore for Hat Day at church. Lace, ribbon and a vintage pearl button!

Wearing hats is not the norm in my church, so this is a fun way to include all women in the the celebration.

I was blessed with a day full of sunshine, love and laughter.

Happy Valentine’s Day ~ Cards

Went through my stash of old cards and found this bit of artwork to up-cycle on a Valentine card for Old Roady. I didn’t want fru-fru pink hearts or lace so stuck with browns and a muted maroon. I used a Cuttlebug die for the corners and Spellbinders Label Four die (S4-190) for the artwork.

This next card is more traditional. Screaming Valentine’s Day! The red glitter paper is from Stampin’ Up. (I think it was introduced in the Holiday mini catalog.) I cut out the hearts with my Sizzix dies. The smallest heart is stamped with a PSX stamp. (I understand they are no longer in business and the secondary market has some outrageous prices for their rare, collectible designs.) I stamped the image with VersaMark clear ink and embossed with red embossing powder. MS punch along the bottom is Doily Lace. The embossed background is done with the Craft Concepts Cottage Floral embossing folder.

A Happy Hello! Card

I enjoy looking at the intricate cards created by design teams and talented stampers. Seeing the beautiful cards makes me aspire to one day being able to create my own elaborate designs. But in the meantime, simple seems to be  what I come up with when I play at my craft table.

I used the Funky Flowers embossing folder by Craft Concepts to emboss the turquoise card stock for this card. The daisy is by Petaloo. The stamp – ‘A Happy Hello’ – is by Stampin’ Up! and the hot pink ribbon is from my stash.

Quick, easy and fun to make!

A Note of Encouragement

These vintage daisy sequins were part of a mixed bag of trims I discovered in a small shop in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. The little price tag says ‘Woolco’.

To create this card I used Craft Concepts Funky Flowers embossing folder and attached the sequins using Stampin’ Up’s Stampin’ Dimensionals – the only adhesive in my box of choices that made the sequins stick. The stamped Bible verse is from the Stampin’ Up set  Say It With Scripture.
