Dogwood Blossom Happy Birthday Card

Posted on

One of my latest creations made at Stamp Camp using Stampin’ Ups Happiness Shared stamp set. I used a white gel pen to enhance the flower. I love the white ink on cream paper combination.

This beautiful card is already in the mail!

And none will hear the postman’s knock
Without a quickening of the heart.
For who can bear to feel himself forgotten?

Happy Birthday Card with Love

The single flower stamped on this card is by Stampin’ Up from the Love & Sympathy Set. The stamp is also perfect for a birthday card. I like the simplicity of the flower combined with a great deal of white space on the card. Do you like white space or do you prefer more embellishment on your cards?

Happy Valentine’s Day ~ Cards

Went through my stash of old cards and found this bit of artwork to up-cycle on a Valentine card for Old Roady. I didn’t want fru-fru pink hearts or lace so stuck with browns and a muted maroon. I used a Cuttlebug die for the corners and Spellbinders Label Four die (S4-190) for the artwork.

This next card is more traditional. Screaming Valentine’s Day! The red glitter paper is from Stampin’ Up. (I think it was introduced in the Holiday mini catalog.) I cut out the hearts with my Sizzix dies. The smallest heart is stamped with a PSX stamp. (I understand they are no longer in business and the secondary market has some outrageous prices for their rare, collectible designs.) I stamped the image with VersaMark clear ink and embossed with red embossing powder. MS punch along the bottom is Doily Lace. The embossed background is done with the Craft Concepts Cottage Floral embossing folder.

Stampin’ Up Twitterpated Designer Series Paper and Pursuit of Happiness Stamp Set.

This lovely card was a Stamp Camp project. The paper is gorgeous. I lost my head over it! Yes, as Friend Owl would say, I’m twitterpated.

A Happy Hello! Card

I enjoy looking at the intricate cards created by design teams and talented stampers. Seeing the beautiful cards makes me aspire to one day being able to create my own elaborate designs. But in the meantime, simple seems to be  what I come up with when I play at my craft table.

I used the Funky Flowers embossing folder by Craft Concepts to emboss the turquoise card stock for this card. The daisy is by Petaloo. The stamp – ‘A Happy Hello’ – is by Stampin’ Up! and the hot pink ribbon is from my stash.

Quick, easy and fun to make!

Stampin’ Up You Are Loved Stamp Set

I love how stamping with VersaMark ink can jazz up a plain background. That’s what we did at Stamp Camp on the pear card stock. Then it’s easy as layering three hearts, each just a little bit different. The largest heart is embossed. The middle heart is cut from a shimmery silver paper. The smallest heart is stamped with VersaMark then white embossing powder applied and heated. Add some pearls and a ribbon to complete this pretty Valentine card.

Stampin’ Up Festive & Fun Stamp Set

This gift tag went together quickly. The stamped image is colored in with markers.

The little elf peeking over the top is one of my church bazaar finds. The ‘Christmas Past’ room was filled with gently used and vintage ornaments. Don’t you love his chubby cheeks?

Always Thankful Card – Stampin’ Up

Here is another Thanksgiving card we made at Stamp Camp. We used the Always Thankful Set from the Holiday Mini Catalog and colored it using ink pads and blender pens. The paper piercing was done with the Stampin’ Up Mat Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool.

The aqua colored paper is Pool Party. Had I created this card on my own, I would not have reached for that color, but I love it! That’s what so much fun about Stamp Camp – discovering something new. Could be a different technique, or as in this case, a new color combination.

I’ve loved all the Thanksgiving cards we made this year. Gonna be hard to part with them!

Stampin’ Up Gently Falling Stamp Set

Spent another fun evening in the Rubber Room stamping and laughing with friends. The projects Janice had prepared fit my needs exactly — Thanksgiving cards to send. My other goal was to learn how to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig. I’ve had it forever and tried so many times to figure it out on my own but always meeting with total failure. Jan showed me how to use it and it’s so EASY!

Used the Gently Falling Set from the Holiday mini catalog. I own this set but haven’t sat down to play with it yet, so this was a wonderful opportunity. On vanilla card stock with a 1/2″ frame overlay, Jan had us stamp a random pattern of leaves then color in with chalk. (I love the soft colors of chalk.) We did a three dot pattern using the eggplant marker before removing the frame. We then mounted this front piece on eggplant card stock and added a ribbon. The instruction for this card was for it to stand the other way, but I stamped my greetings inside  (on vanilla c/s) to read this way – so fortunately the card front worked both ways.

This next card was supposed to have the pitcher from Studio Sketches on the front. But in my enthusiasm to practice with the Stamp-a-ma-jig, I once again stamped my inside greeting ‘the wrong way’, so used the maple leaf from Gently Falling. The leaf is stamped on natural ivory card stock and framed with mustard c/s then mounted on a Top Note die cut shape cut in half. This unit was mounted over designer paper on natural ivory c/s. We added gold brads before attaching it to the card front (mustard c/s).

Sunflowers and a Sunflower Card

I love sunflowers and so do a lot of other folks. A quick search on line brings up loads of sites related to the cheerful sunflower. On-line stores, blogs, guides – you name it – all centered around one flower – the sunflower.

For me, this flower says, Autumn! That’s when the flowers are heavy with seeds that the birds will feast on if you don’t rescue them first. I didn’t know this flower originated in North America with the Plains Indians until I found www.sunflowerguide.com.

At the Tonic website, today’s blog is titled: Sunflower Power: How a Cancer Survivor Inspired Her Community. Be sure and stop over to read about Nancy Siegler of Sacrament, California and how she ‘combined the happiness of the sunflower with the awareness of breast cancer into an event to raise money for breast cancer research’. What she’s accomplished is truly an inspiration.

We made this sunflower card at Stamp Camp. The Sunflower stamp, by Stampin’ Up is big and bold. For this card, we used Versamark ink to stamp the image then shaded it with chalk. On a scrap of paper, we stamped the image a second time and punched out the center. This was mounted with Dimensionals on the center of the first image. An additional accent was added to the center using a ‘button’ from the Sweet Buttons Embosslits Die. I look forward to sending this card to someone who needs their spirits lifted.

The Tonic blog post closed with the following thought that has resonated with me.

“Imagine how you could turn your passion into compassion.”

Imagine! Then plant the first seed.
