Prayer For The Armed Forces

Posted on

This small prayer book was produced in 1941 by the Army and Navy Commission of the Protestant Episcopal Church for the use of soldiers and sailors in the Armed Forces during WWII. It includes ‘An Order for Worship’ as well as Prayers, Psalms, Reading From the Bible and Hymns.

A Prayer Book for Soldiers and Sailors

On this Memorial Day, the following prayer taken from this book and titled FOR ALL IN THE SERVICE OF OUR COUNTRY is my prayer for the brave men and women serving in our nation’s armed forces.

O Almighty Lord God, who neither slumberest nor sleepest; Protect and assist, we beseech thee, all those who at home or abroad, by land, by sea, or in the air, are serving this country, that they, being armed with thy defence, may be preserved evermore in all perils; and being filled with wisdom and girded with strength, may do their duty to thy honour and glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

My thanks to all who are serving now or have served in the past. May God bless you tenfold.
